While I’m patiently waiting for father Christmas to bring me my Xbox 360 with Gears of War I have to make do with watching the trailers and reading reviews of this awesome looking game.

Wired News says :

“Why is Gears of War so insanely awesome?

Technically, it’s just the same old, same old. You’ve seen stuff like this a bazillion times before. Gears of War is yet another run-and-gun shooter in which you blunder through the post-apocalyptic boneyard of civilization, repetitively slaughtering a bunch of hulking, gibbering aliens.

And the game really is awesome. Indeed, it is staggeringly, derangedly so. I popped Gears of War into my Xbox 360 and sat in a cybernetic haze for three straight hours, emerging with my stomach in fist-size knots, so emotionally and cognitively depleted that I had to consult the instructions on the side of the box before I was able to cook a bag of microwave popcorn”

He is joined by other major characters which include Midna, Ganon, Colin, Ilia, Rakka and Toby, Hena and of course, Princess Zelda. The story revolves around Link, who was tasked by the mayor in their village to go to Hyrule Summit. Extremetech has a good guide on how to make your 360 run less-noisely.

“The Xbox 360 is one of the noisier console systems on the market, and the biggest cul-prit is the loud whirring of the optical drive during gameplay. We crack an Xbox 360 open to see if we can reduce the noise with a few minor adjustments.”

There have been many XBOX 360 case mods and skins available since the console was released last year, but this one is one of the few that we really like and think is “blogworthy”.

The design itself is very nice and sleek using orange and yellow to make the console more “vibrant” than the stock version.

However, what makes this case mod cool is that there is a window cut in the side of the console so that you can see the technical wiring that makes the XBOX 360 work.

Home video game fanatics will definitely face a tough decision on choosing between Nintendo’s Wii and Sony’s PlayStation 3 controller versions. This console battle is very interesting for it might even outnumber the popularity of Sony’s famous PlayStation 3 console.

Sony has been occupying the top console list for a very long time already. After the release of the first ever version of PlayStation, Sony made it clear… that they own the gaming industry since it dominated both Nintendo and Sega. The arrival of PlayStation 2 also overwhelmed its rivals, including Microsoft’’s Xbox console.

Going back to the sensational Wii controller, Nintendo designed its features with the main intention on playing with movements. Sony, meanwhile, merely tackled such ability onto its own classic design. In short, Nintendo managed to innovate and added something new to its latest product, while Sony only added some features.

On the other hand, Wii likewise seemed more ahead than rival Nintendo when it comes to pricing. Nintendo has already confirmed that the Wii will not go for more than $250. With such, Sony now needs to convince gamers and electronic enthusiasts alike that its prized PS3 is worth buying with its $500-$600 market price.

box.jpgWhile everyone is waiting for the launching of Nintendo’s Wii, Microsoft’’s Xbox 360 has been inside the living room of millions of household worldwide for over six months now. Needless to say, no matter how much secrets have already been revealed about Wii, it doesn’’t spare Nintendo’’s video console to be included in the wait-and-see product list.

It seems that Microsoft already has an exciting year planned out for its new Xbox console. Top of its latest offerings is the confirmation of a HD-DVD add-on for its 360 unit as well as the announcement of its top new games, including the latest Halo and more Grand Theft Auto games. On the other hand, it is obvious that Wii was specially built by Nintendo for pure fun. It will not come as a surprise if a lot of people will jump on the Wii bandwagon for merely trying something new. Also, with its very cheap price of only $250, Nintendo doesn’’t seem to be interested with the pressures of competition from its rivals.

Unless you’’re an experienced and die-hard gamer who is very particular to good graphics, 360 seems to be the perfect console for you. Although both consoles have backward compatibility, Xbox only offers limited games compared to the wide variations offered by Wii. Added features, accessories, and games will surely come in the future from both consoles. Let’s just wait till Wii hits the store this holiday season so we can finally compare these top game consoles on a first hand playing experienced.

200651191719955.jpgWireless Gaming Service Wii Connect 24 is one of the latest offerings of Nintendo’s Wii game console. What is so cool about this feature is that it enables some of Wii’s functions to work even on a standby mode. With such sleek feature, it is now possible to leave a message to a gamer even if he is not present.

Aside from the cool feature I mentioned above, Nintendo’s Wii can also send out game patches and updates to other user’s if their consoles have a 24 hour Wi-Fi connectivity. Wii also offers sample games through promotional demo versions to users who have this so-called Connect 24. This demo games can then be downloaded by Wii user’s to their DSs. With Wireless Gaming Service Wii Connect 24, players can have a fast Internet access through its built-in 802.11b/g WiFi and through a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor. These featured methods allow players to have an instant access to the established Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service.

I guess other players will also appreciate Wii’s fast downloads via its Connect 24 feature. Fast downloads can be fully enjoyed by players since it has a 512MB built-in flash memory. Players can also make use of a secured digital card memory for their additional media downloads. If some gamers still want an even bigger memory to store their data, Wireless Gaming Service Wii Connect 24 is also compatible with Mask ROM by Macronix. With the excellent features of Nintendo’s Wireless Gaming Service Wii Connect 24, I am definitely sure that this latest Nintendo craze will be a huge hit to game console fanatics.
